Born from a simple obsession — making the best burger in Lisbon using only what's worth eating.
Our story
What started as a question — how hard can it be to make a truly great burger — became a gathering place for burger lovers across the city. Every patty is grass-fed, every bun is brioche, every sauce is made in-house.
The walls of every H5 Texas location are lined with photos of thousands of visitors from around the world — families, backpackers, regulars who come back every week. That wall of faces is the whole point. Great food brings people together, and great people make the place.
Today H5 Texas runs two houses in Lisbon. Intendente is our full menu — burgers all day and a proper weekend brunch. Avenida is built for one thing: the perfect burger, fast, at a price that makes sense. Both kitchens use the same ingredients, the same care, the same Texas sauce.
What we stand for
Two kitchens. One set of rules. These are the ones that matter.
Every patty is 100% organic grass-fed beef sourced from Portuguese farms. We know where it comes from, how the animals lived, and what they ate. That transparency goes straight into the flavour.
Our brioche buns are fresh, our fries are hand-cut, and our Texas sauce is made in-house from a recipe that has never been written down. The kitchen does everything from scratch because shortcuts show up on the plate.
Veggie burgers, vegan options, kids menus — we built the menu so nobody at the table has to compromise. And yes, we're pet-friendly at Intendente, because good restaurants should feel like home.
Lisbon is getting expensive. We don't think a great burger has to be a luxury. Everything on the menu is priced honestly — quality ingredients, fair margins, nothing inflated because the address is convenient.
The walls of both restaurants are covered in photos of guests from every country in the world. We keep them because that's who this place belongs to — the people who walked through the door and made H5 Texas what it is.
Most tables at Avenida get their food in under 15 minutes. Speed matters when you're hungry. But we won't trade it for quality — the kitchen is efficient, not rushed, and there's a difference between the two.
Our journey
The original house on Avenida da Liberdade opens its doors. One kitchen, one obsession — the best burger in Lisbon. Within weeks, the walls start filling up with photos of visitors from around the world.
The full burger menu takes shape — smash burgers, specials, the Texas Bowl, the pulled pork. The cocktail and drinks menu grows to match. 100+ reviews on Google, average 4.9 stars.
H5 Texas Intendente opens in Largo do Intendente with a bigger menu — all the burgers, plus a full brunch from 10am on weekends. Two locations, one set of standards.
Two Lisbon houses, thousands of burgers, and a wall of photos from guests across 60+ countries. The obsession hasn't changed — just got better with practice.
No reservations needed. Just walk in, find a seat, and we'll handle the rest.
